WOODY Cook has been placed in a "powerful" position on a reality television programe.

But this means he might have to betray the trust of one of his friends who is competing alongside him.

Woody, the son of Hove DJ Norman “Fatboy Slim” Cook and Radio 2 breakfast show host Zoe Ball, has been competing on Channel Four show The Circle for the past two weeks.

The show sees contestants move into a special apartment building where they will only be able to communicate with other contestants through a social media app.

Last night the 18-year-old found out that, for the first time, he had become a "secret influencer" - a role he gained by being voted the most popular contestant by viewers at home.

This means that he becomes one of the most powerful contestants and is able to choose one of his neighbours (who he is competing against for a cash prize at the end of the show) to send home.

But Woody is not relishing his new position of authority.

He said: "It's hard. I don't like making people sad, but I have to do it."

He drew small caricatures of each of his fellow contestants on a whiteboard and weighed up the pros and cons of sending each of them home.

But he summarised that "it was tough" as he could "just see a board of my friends".

Then he found out his task had become harder as he would have to break the bad news to the person he chose to axe in a face to face conversation.

This will be the first time he will meet any of the other people in the competition.

He said: "Oh no. How am I going to explain that?"

But just as he was about to reveal the player he would be "blocking", as it is called on the show, the programme ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger which left audiences outraged.

One viewer said: "Did The Circle seriously just leave us with that cliffhanger?

"Are they joking right now?

"I'm fuming. I stayed up on a Sunday night for this."

The Circle will return tonight at 10pm to reveal Woody's decision.
