AN UNUSUAL piece of art has been installed in a street.

The sculpture, titled Alphabetti Spaghetti, is one of three identical creations to appear in the UK.

British artist Alex Chinneck is renowned for making the ordinary extraordinary.

In his latest sculptures he has recreated three red pillar postboxes – with a twist.

The red postboxes, which are tied in knots, were originally installed in Sheffield, London and Margate in September.

Now the Sheffield sculpture has been moved to Sussex to widen the audience.

Mr Chinneck said: “I want as many people as possible to be able to see and hopefully enjoy my work. I take tremendous pleasure in the accessibility of my work so I’m excited about the unveiling.”

Art fans will need to visit the village of Ticehurst, near Wadhurst, to find the postbox, which has been installed in the High Street.

Chinneck’s previous artworks include From The Knees Of My Nose To The Belly Of My Toes, an installation on the facade of a house in Margate in 2013, which gave the appearance that the front of the building had slipped down, and 2017’s Pick Yourself Up And Pull Yourself Together, in which a Sheffield road appeared to have been peeled upwards, with a car hanging from underneath it.
