A MAN who was arrested after armed police raided his home has been released without charge, for now.

Sussex Police called in the help of the Royal Navy Bomb Squad to search the property in Brighton yesterday afternoon.

Residents were told to sleep elsewhere during the Monday night raid on the house in Richmond Road  which started at about 9.30pm.

After police surrounded the property on Monday night, the 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life as well as possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

Sussex Police said the man has since been released under investigation pending further enquires.
