A MAN was found hiding in a garden after a car smashed into a bollard.

Police were called to Dyke Road Avenue, Brighton, late on Thursday evening after the vehicle hit a pedestrian crossing section in the middle of the road.

The driver had run away from the scene before police could arrive so officers launched a search of the surrounding area. Shortly afterwards, they found a man hiding in a nearby garden.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

After requesting the information last Firday, yesterday a Sussex Police spokesman told The Argus: β€œAt about 11.19pm on Thursday October 11, police received a report of a crash between a silver Volkswagen Polo and a bollard in Dyke Road Avenue, Brighton.

β€œA 25-year-old man of no fixed address, arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and possession of cocaine, has been released on conditional bail until 29 October.”
