SUSSEX MPs have reacted after news that the Prime Minister has struck a new Brexit deal in Brussels.

It has been reported that the UK and European Union have agreed a deal, ahead of a summit of leaders today.

Boris Johnson has posted: "We've got a great new deal that takes back control."

But Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle said news of the deal was the "end of the beginning" and caled Brexit a "never-ending nightmare".

"Anyone who says this is the end of Brexit is a liar," said the Labour MP.

Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas also accused the Prime Minister of trying to "railroad through a deal" without enough time for it to be properly understood.

She has continued her calls for any deal to be put before voters in another European referendum.

A vote is expected in Parliament about Mr Johnson's deal on Saturday.

It is not yet clear whether the concerns of Northern Ireland's politicial parties including the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) have been addressed.

Brighton Kemptown MP Mr Russell-Moyle said Brexit would be prolonged if a deal was past.

"Let's remember getting a deal is just the start of at least five or ten years of negotiating trade deals," he said.

"If people are sick of Brexit now, wait another ten years and see.

"Brexit is a never-ending nightmare and passing a deal will not end it. This is just a transition deal.

"We'll all be fed up with it by the end. I'm fed up with it."

The Labour MP said he would likely not vote for the deal but his party would push for a second referendum.

"Labour policy is to have a confirmatory referendum if any deal goes through," he said.

"But the only way we can end Brexit for good is if we hold a second referendum and the public votes remain.

"We should just get on with it."

Crawley MP and Conservative Henry Smith said Mr Johnson's announcement meant the "onus is on Labour, the Lib Dems, and the Greens".

"The opposition can either make a positive move to agree to the deal or try and obstruct it so they can stop Brexit," he said.

"We had a referendum and the British people said they wanted to leave. They want MPs to take ownership of Brexit.

"MPs are not impressing people at all with their machinations in Westminster."

Green Party MP Caroline Lucas posted: "PM is trying to railroad through a deal which will set course of UK for generations, with no parliamentary scrutiny, no independent analysis and no guarantee rights are protected.

"Parliament must be able to scrutinise fully and it must go back to people for the final say."

Hove MP Peter Kyle called the deal "the worst of all worlds".

"Northern Ireland is for all intents and purposes being kept in the EU indefinitely but the rest of the UK leaves on terms that will damage trade, investment, and opportunities for decades to come," the Labour MP said.

"The deal is miles away from what people were promised in 2016, it would be entirely wrong to leave without putting it back to the people for a final say."
