A MOTHER caught on film the moment her son witnessed his beloved video game’s universe implode in front of his eyes.

Maxx Honhold, seven, had stayed up late for a special live stream event that would end the season ten version of multi-player adventure game Fortnite.

But unknown to Maxx, who was wearing his alien spacecraft pyjamas for the occasion, the digital world he had been playing in was going to be blown apart.

He was standing excitedly in front of the television screen at his home in Shoreham when a scene showed the Fortnite world suddenly being struck by an asteroid, which caused the characters and planet to be sucked into a black hole.

“It broke,” cries Maxx on film footage recorded by his mother Emma Broughton. “It’s destroying Fortnite! Dad, what’s happening?”

His audible shock was matched by that of his father Tristian, who gasped as one of the characters was blasted away from the ground.

Six million people tuned in on games consoles on Sunday night to witness the event which would begin Fortnite Chapter Two.

After the digital world was ripped to shreds, the game was of action for all players.

However after just two days of waiting, Fortnite Season 11 has become available.

Emma’s video of Maxx watching his virtual world disintegrate has since had more than a million views.

She said: “He absolutely loves Fortnite and plays it with his friends once he’s done his homework every evening.

“He probably plays one hour each evening – as long as he’s good. Once the game wouldn’t turn back on he genuinely thought it was the end of the game for ever.”

Maxx told The Argus: “I can’t believe how many people have seen my video, I play Fortnite probably for a hour before bedtime and my mum let me stay up a little late for the event on the game.

“I love Fortnite. It’s probably the best game as all my friends play it and you can change your characters, I’m not allowed to play it loads even though I wish I could but I don’t want to turn into a zombie.”
