HUNDREDS of police officers have taken time off sick for mental health issues, figures show.
Statistics revealed how the impact of stress is affecting staff across emergency services.
In Sussex, 302 officers had to take time off sick to get treatment last year, up from 134 officers in the year 2014 to 2015.
The force told the BBC it has tried to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourage officers to discuss their issues. Bosses fear the true impact could be higher.
