A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured in a crash with a car.

The collision happened at 6.30am on Friday and involved a black Mini Cooper and a white Triumph Tiger motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old man from Hastings, sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where police say he is in a serious but stable condition.

The car driver, a 48-year-old man from Robertsbridge, also sustained minor injuries and shock, for which he was treated at the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards.

The crash happened at the junction of the A21 Battle Road with George Hill and Sussex Police are currently investigating the incident.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a collision in which a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a car.

"Officers investigating the circumstances would also like to talk to anyone who assisted at the scene but who has not yet come forward.

"Anyone able to assist or who may have relevant dash-cam footage is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by phoning 101, quoting serial 275 of 18/10."
