AN ALBION fan was faced with a moral quandary at the weekend.

The dedicated supporter was made to choose between travelling to the Midlands to watch their beloved Seagulls take on Aston Villa or take part in the People’s Vote march in London – with both taking place on Saturday.

In the end it was their desire to see the UK remain in the EU which won the day, but that did not mean that Albion were forgotten.

The fan marched carrying a sign with the Albion crest decorated with gold stars, similar to the flag of the European Union.

The sign said: “I’m not at Villa Park. That’s how important the People’s March is.”

The identity of the banner’s carrier is not yet known. Petra Kopp is a founding member of Brighton And Hove For EU, which took a “full coach and huge numbers” from the city to the protest.

She spotted the sign at the march and said: “We joined the march at Hyde Park Corner and as we slowly made our way down Pall Mall we noticed this placard ahead of us.

“We thought it was fantastic, a BHAFC fan feeling so strongly about the need for a People’s Vote on Brexit that he chose to join the march rather than go to the Albion game.

“He wasn’t actually with our group. We managed to get a photo of his placard but soon lost him in the crowds. We would love to track him down.”
