NETFLIX has promised to crack down on users who share their passwords.

The streaming service is vowing it will be tackling people who share their account with family members and friends.

Netlix currently has account sharing features, which are designed to let people in a single household have one account between them.

But the company is worried that some people are sharing their accounts with different households or distant friends.

Netflix product chief Greg Peters, who spoke at Netflix's Q3 2019 earnings last week, said Netflix plans to address password-sharing.

"We continue to monitor it so we're looking at the situation," he said.

"We'll see those consumer-friendly ways to push on the edges of that."

The company has not yet explained what this means for its users.
