A “PUP-UP” cocktail bar will offer dog-owners and their beloved four-legged friends the chance to enjoy a drink together.

Puppies and Cocktails will transform the Earth and Stars pub in Brighton into a haven of fruity drinks and furry customers for one evening next month.

The business is the brainchild of young entrepreneur Lauren Gardner who lives in Westdene, Brighton.

The 21-year-old said: “People everywhere love dogs, but I think that is especially the case in Brighton.

“It is the perfect place to have our first event.”

Lauren was inspired by dog and cat cafes she had seen spring up across the UK, as well as her friend’s adorable dogs Caspar (pictured) and Buster.

But she said that she did not think there was a place where dog owners could go with their pets for an evening out.

Lauren said: “I think many dog owners don’t like leaving their dogs when they go out in the evening.

“Being able to take them with them means they don’t have to feel guilty.“They can socialise with other dog owners, or people who don’t have their own dogs can come and cuddle someone else’s puppy.”

The event will be held at the pub in Windsor Street between 6pm and 8pm on November 3.

Visitors will be given a complimentary cocktail and their pets will also be plied with a dog-friendly tipple, dubbed a “puptail”, as well as a goody bag packed with treats and toys.

Throughout the evening guests will be entertained with a series of games and competitions, with a professional photographer and videographer on hand to capture the action.

Lauren said: “Cocktails and dogs, they are a lot of people’s two favourite things, and this will combine them. At the moment we are just testing it out and seeing how it goes but I’m really excited.”

The event will also raise money for the charity, Guide Dogs UK, which provides mobility for the blind and partially sighted.

Tickets must be bought in advance at £13 per ticket for dog owners and £10 for non dog owners.
