TERRIFYING terraced houses have taken over a neigh-boo-hood.

This ghoul holiday the houses of Hollingbury have taken on haunted look as residents have made their streets look like a nightmare.

Scream-fingered horror-ticultrualists have transforming ten ghoulish gardens making up a trail of attractions.

The half-term horror-day activity was planned by families from Carden Primary to help their school cope with funding cuts and pay for extra activities.

PTA chairwoman Amy Heckle who came up with the spooky school fundraising idea said: “ I was inspired when my family did a scarecrow trail over the summer.

“We also love visiting the houses that are decorated for Christmas across Brighton. So a Halloween trail seemed something new and exciting.

“It has been so much fun decorating our house and I love that every location marked on our map is slightly different, but created with a lot of imagination and effort.

“This idea has so many benefits to families not only is it fun, it is low cost and there is an opportunity to win a prize. As parents ourselves we know how expensive half term can get and having a map and something to look for is a good way to sneakily get your children to go for walk out in the fresh air.”

Humphrey Wallin, six, who lives in one of the eek-inducing edifices said: “I love our haunted house. My favourite bit is the skeleton playing a guitar that I made.”

Matty, nine and Pip Brian, six, decorated their home with a Day of the Dead theme.

They said: “We loved being able to draw on the windows. We cant wait to see the rest of the houses in the trail.”

Finley Watter’s mother Emma created their giant neon spider. Finley said: “The spider is so awesome and colourful.”

The houses will be decorated all week.

Maps for the trail cost £1 and are available from Old Boat Community Centre and Independent Plumbing shop in Carden Hill, the New Oak pub in County Oak Avenue and Ladies Mile pub in Mackie Avenue.
