TUCKED in between the frozen section and the fruit and veg, the fabled middle aisles of supermarket compatriots Aldi and Lidl have provided many a bargain for the focused shopper and the easily distracted tagalong alike.
Here’s a snapshot of what the aisles of dreams have and will have to offer.
ALDI
The Christmas season is approaching and that means it’s time to select this year’s advent calendar. Models available at Aldi range from an Earls Dog [sic] calendar for just £2.99, a Block Tech Toy Calendar for £6.99, a Disney version for £9.99, the same price as a 3D Wooden Train advent calendar, while a premium Harry Potter Calendar will set you back £49.99.
Continuing the wintery theme, there is a focus on knitting this week, with 6 balls of Ombre yarn available for £19.99, or a Pastel Double Knit (acrylic) Yarn Assortment is just £4.99.
For those that prefer thread to yarn, a Midi Sewing Machine will be available for £29.99.
Prepare for the winter holidays with a Candle Making Set for £4.99, the same price as a Make Your Own Lip Balm set and a Make Your own Bath Bomb set.
LIDL
Lidl is recovering from the ghoulish end of October by focusing on plants and flowers from Thursday.
A Twin Stem Orchid is just £6.99, and a Twin Stem Amaryllis, a three-pack of mini succulents and cacti will be available for £3.99, for those after something easier to care for.
Staying outdoors, from Sunday a Crivit 48-litre Hiking Rucksack will be there for £19.99, or for those more serious about the outdoors there will be a wildlife surveillance camera for £49.99 and digital night vision binoculars for £79.99.
