AN UNUSUAL collection of pottery is attracting a cult following.

Brighton erotic boutique She Said has got a waiting list for their pottery penises and now have a waiting list for Christmas stopping fillers.

The shop in Ship Street Gardens is now appearing in a TV documentary for their unusual collection of ceramic appendages.

Owner Nic Ramsay came up with the idea for the unusual vintage designed sex toys after meeting artist Vanessa Conyers at an Artists’ Open House.

The Argus:

Vanessa was visiting the shop in Ship Street Gardens when a crew from Channel 5’s Inside the Sex Toy Factory were visiting.

The film crew then followed the creation process.

Owner Nic Ramsey is now planning a collection of Brighton souvenirs featuring illustrations of the Royal Pavilion.

Nic, 49, said: “These are beautiful handmade things and I haven’t seen anyone else making anything else like it.

“Traditionally back in Victorian times and earlier sex toys would have been made from wood or natural materials.

“Vanessa is a ceramicist but is not known for making dildos, more generally plates and bowls and things.

“I said ‘do you think you could make a dildo?’ and she said ‘I’ll give it a whirl’. She just happened to be coming in to the shop the day the crew were filming, it was serendipity.

The Argus:

“These are a world away from most of the high tech sex toys, low tech and very artistic.

“Women have bought these for their mothers, daughters, best friends and proudly have them on their dressing tables. Men have been sent in to buy them for their partners. They have been such an unexpected hit that we now have a waiting list for Christmas.”

The shop will feature on Channel 5’s inside the Sex Shop tonight at 9pm.
