POLICE have been unable to identify the dead body of a man found on a beach.
He was found by a dog-walker almost three months ago.
Sussex Police said that, despite extensive enquiries and a post mortem examination, they do not know who the man might be.
East Sussex coroner’s officer Sarah Cockram said: “We are appealing for anyone who might recognise the man from his description to get in touch as soon as possible so that his family can be told of his death.”
The man had a Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance and was thought to be in his 30s.
He had brown eyes, a full black beard, short black hair and was 5ft 7in tall.
He was found along the seashore at Cow Gap near Eastbourne on August 19 wearing black trainer socks with an orange trim and a black size nine shoe with a steel toe cap.
He also had a green material bracelet which he wore on his wrist.
Anyone able to assist is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by phoning 101, quoting serial 796 of 19/08.
