THE body of a man found in a ditch by the A259 has been identified by police.
The body was discovered late last month near Rye.
On the day of the incident officers closed off the road for several hours and examined the scene, saying the death was being treated as “unexplained”.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 10.30am on October 31 the body of a man was found in a ditch at the side of the A259 New Winchelsea Road in Rye.
“The road was closed for the body and scene to be examined and traffic diversions were put in place between Winchelsea and Rye.
“The body has been identified as that of Andrew Wren, 53, of King Alfred Avenue, London SE6., and relatives have been informed.
“A postmortem took place on Tuesday and the cause of death awaits further forensic tests. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the Coroners Officer is continuing enquiries.”
