A POPULAR pub will return to its original name after a major revamp.

The Office in Brighton is set for some large-scale changes over the next month.

The pub, in Sydney Street, will be closing on Monday for renovations.

But when it reopens in December it will not just be sporting a new look.

New owners also plan to revert the pub to its original name and introduce a new menu.

A spokesman for owners Bermondsey Pubs said: “We’re excited to be reopening The Office pub under its former name, The Green Dragon, after a full refurbishment over the coming weeks.

“We’ll be freshening up the pub, giving it a more open plan feel and rediscovering its traditional style.”

He also revealed plans for the menu.

He said: “On the bar will be a selection of local ales, craft beers from across the UK, along with a wide range of gins that the pub is renowned for, plus award winning Pieminister Pies served all day, every day.

“We’re also delighted that the existing management and bar team are staying to continue to run the pub and look forward to welcoming everyone from the local community for a drink.”

The Office had previously had a Thai kitchen which had been at the pub for 15 years. But it was announced in October it would be closing and it served its final meal last Saturday.

The Office is one of three pubs managed by pub company Pleisure which will be handing their keys back to the landlord company, the Ei Group’s Bermondsey Pubs, after losing a legal battle for Pleisure to continue managing the pubs.
