A WOMAN discovered in a park yesterday was dumped in a bin, police have said.
Officers were called to Landport Recreation Ground in Lewes at just after 12.30pm, after the body was discovered by a passer-by.
The death was initially treated as unexplained, but examination of the body has shown a significant head injury and the matter is now being treated as murder.
A post mortem is due to be carried out on Thursday to establish the exact cause of death.
A 41-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in Lewes on Thursday morning on suspicion of murder. He remained in custody at 12 noon.
A nearby resident said: "The body was found right near my door step and its frightening.
"It's got me scared to go out in case some thing happens."
