YESTERDAY we reported on a World Record attempt for the fastest speed in a jet suit.
So we took a look back over some of the more colourful attempts in Brighton, Hove and Sussex to break records over the years.
We were not disappointed, with mermaids, pooch power, conga lines and dancing.
In July 2019 Paddle Round the Pier attempted to set a record for the most dogs to paddle board in a five minute period.

A brave group attempted to squeeze themselves into a Smart Car in 2001.
It turns out 15 people tried to jam themselves in to the car on the seafront.
In 2017 there was a Guinness World Record attempt for the most mermaids gathered in one place, namely Bexhill.
Coco the French bulldog was dressed up by Deborah Midgley for a Halloween record attempt at Hove Park in 2017.
There was an attempt for the world's biggest Charleston at the Roaring 20s Festival in Bexhill.
We even found a picture of The Brighton and Hove Entertainment Managers Association attempting the world’s longest conga line.
Shoppers attempted a world record for the biggest Teddy Bears picnic at The Arndale (now The Beacon) Centre in Eastbourne.
More than 250 people turned up with their bears for the charity attempt 2015.
A line of teddies stretched through the shopping centre and into nearby Terminus Road.
