A FAMILY-RUN bakery in Chichester has had its steak and kidney pie voted the best in the UK according to a recent survey.

After researching 10,000 Trip Advisor reviews, Premier Inn found that Turners Pies bakers in Chichester was voted the best place in the UK for a steak and kidney pie.

Based in West Sussex since 1993, products are baked daily from scratch using only fresh ingredients, leading to the baker winning countless awards.

Director Phil Turner said: “We were thrilled to hear our steak and kidney pie was crowned the best in the United Kingdom.

“It is a wonderful accolade.

“The steak and kidney is our oldest recipe.

“It was first made and sold by my grandmother Eva Turner in the Thirties.

“We only use the finest ingredients in our pies.

“All of our pies are made from traditional methods by hand.

As well as the overwhelmingly positive reviews for the pie, the bakery has received praise for the wide variety of food they sell in the shop.

Turners Pies were crowned Supreme Champion at last year’s British Pie Awards, with their steak and stilton pie featuring in the Guild of Fine Food’s Top 50 foods in Britain.

Phil added: “We are so lucky to have a large customer base of lovely customers.

They’re often complimenting us on all of our products.

“I would personally recommend our steak and ale pie.

“It’s by far our most popular pie and was crowned the best pie in the UK last year.”

The title was awarded after Premier Inn put together a list of the ten Best British Classic Dishes, and where to find them in the UK.

These included the best Full English Breakfast which was found in The Cotswolds, Surrey claimed the award for the best sausage and mash, while the best fish and chips to be eaten can apparently be bought in Denton, Manchester.
