THIS week we asked you to nominate your favourite spot for a roast.

It came after a Brighton pub was named as Britain’s best.

The Cleveland Arms, in Cleveland Road, was named the winner of the Best Meat Roast Dinner in food giant Knorr’s Great British Roast Dinner Competition.

So here are the most ravishing roasts as voted for by you.

1. The Ladies Mile, Patcham

The Argus:

The Ladies Mile in Patcham was the most popular suggestion from our readers who love this quaint pub. It boasts the “best gravy around” according to one of our readers, and has the “most beautiful slabs of juicy beef, tasty veg and Yorkshire puddings.”

See what our PubSpy thought of the venue when he visited here.

2. The New Oak, County Oak Ave, Brighton

The Argus:

This pub was also a reader favourite . Speaking of the chef one reader said: “This pub has Sunday roasts down to a fine art - a classic meal with quality ingredients and gigantic portions that beat even the strongest of metabolisms.”

So if you’re looking to indulge in some heartwarming food this could be the perfect place for you.

3. The Victory Inn, Duke Street, Brighton

The Argus:

Lots of votes for this one.

The restaurant is renowned for servicing “superb value Sunday lunch” in a relaxed and friendly setting where everyone is welcome.

4. Mrs Fitzherbert's, New Rd, Brighton

The Argus:

One reader said: "’m veggie and usually feel a bit underwhelmed after a roast but not this time. And the best part was that all the vegetables were cooked to perfection, I hate overcook veggies.

"These were very nice and good quality. All of our party were pleased with the roast.

"They had some cauliflower lolly pop things on sticks and they were amazing. Nice to do something a bit different. We actually ordered extra ones.

"Very good and reasonably priced."

5. The Roundhill, Ditchling Rd, Brighton

The Argus:

The Roundhill excels at roasts and is a bit of a vegan’s dream with more than the average pub’s plant-based dishes on offer.

All drinks in The Roundhill are also vegan, with an emphasis on local ales and an ever-changing selection. Live music, quizzes, theatre and social groups make the Roundhill a real community pub with an inviting and safe atmosphere.
