TRANSPORT chiefs say buses will not be stopping at a university campus when staff go on strike next week.

Routes including the 5B, 23, 25, 25X, 5OU and 84 will be affected, as buses will not be able to access the University of Sussex campus at Falmer.

It follows a ballot for a strike by the UCU Union in a row over pensions.

The strike is set to take place between November 25 and December 4.

Union boss Jo Grady said staff at 43 universities across the country are expected to walk out.

She said: “The first wave of strikes will hit institutions later this month unless universities start talking to us seriously about how they are going to deal with rising pension costs and declining pay and conditions.”

Buses will not enter the campus between 7am and 6pm, Brighton and Hove buses said.

The Sussex University bus stop on the A27 will remain open, as will stops at the University of Brighton campus at Falmer.
