DOGS of all shapes and sizes will be taking over a stately home.

Goodwood will become Goodwoof when hundreds of hounds are unleashed.

The dog-loving Duke of Richmond will be giving over the estate to four-legged friends for a canine extravaganza.

The animals are in for a treat – there will be an impressive line-up of tasty food, beauty treatments, performances, competitions and walkies across the 12,000-acre estate.

There will even be a dog-friendly cinema.

Organisers have not yet announced what films will be on show but Lassie and Lady And The Tramp could be on the list.

There will also be a whole load of treats to keep everyone in the pack – on four legs and two – well fed and watered.

Dogs have always been much loved at Goodwood.

The third duke of Richmond commissioned the architect James Wyatt to create the most luxurious dog house in the world in 1787, which had central heating even before the lavish country house itself.

The two-day event will include a display of modern architecture.

The most innovative, ambitious and entertaining kennels will be auctioned for the charity Canine Partners.

Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox, the 11th Duke of Richmond, said: “Many people I know share the third duke’s philosophy – they would far rather spend time and money on their dogs than they would on their human guests.

“To this day, Goodwood is an entirely dog-friendly estate – dogs can stay at the hotel, accompany their owners in the restaurants, and even join our members’ clubhouse, The Kennels. We thought that it was only fitting to dedicate an entire event to them, just as we do with cars and horses at our other flagship meetings.”

Goodwoof will be held on May 24 and 25, 2020. Tickets cost £19.50 for adults, children under 12 are free.
