A MAN was shot in the chest with an air rifle in the middle of a town centre.
Police are appealing for help to track down two people who were seen running away in Uckfield High Street.
The incident happened at 6.50pm on Tuesday.
One man was shot in the chest, and a window at his property was damaged.
He suffered a mark left on his skin.
There was also damage to a front door window, and to a parked car in the area.
Officers say anyone who was affected or who may have CCTV from the time of the incident is asked to get in touch.
