ELEVEN lights now complete the permanent memorial to the victims of the Shoreham Airshow disaster.
After consultation with the victims’ families, a series of personalised arches and a bench, where visitors can sit, reflect and pay their respects were installed earlier this year near the Shoreham Tollbridge.
Now a series of lights on the opposite bank has been installed to act as a visual focal point.
The solar-powered illuminations can be viewed through the 11 unique arches.
Installation of the lights signals the completion of the three-year project for Portslade-based artists Jane Fordham and David Parfitt, who were commissioned by Adur District Council to carry out the work.
Jane said: “The project has become such a huge part of our lives over the last three years, it’s been a huge privilege to have worked so closely with the families to create something so significant to Shoreham. There’s a mix of satisfaction and relief to have pulled it all together now.”
Families of the victims and council representatives gathered to view the completed memorial on Sunday.
