A MAN with a knife climbed onto the counter of a betting shop and demanded staff hand over cash.
Armed police arrested a man in relation to the incident yesterday evening.
Officers were called to the Betfred shop in Park Road, Brighton, at about 8.15pm yesterday after reports of the robbery.
Witnesses described a man demanding cash from staff at knifepoint.
They said he swiped some money from a “coin stacker” in the store before one person working at the store raised the alarm.
The man was restrained by officers who recovered a knife.
A 28-year-old man was detained on suspicion of robbery.
Sussex Police are now seeking to find out more about the incident.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information are asked to report online or ring 101 quoting serial 1262 of 25/11.”
