THE top UK cities for Christmas shopping have been revealed.
New research has named Brighton as one of the best places to go to pick up presents.
The study ranked cities based on six factors.
It analysed how busy each city is, how many shops there are, the size of the Christmas markets in each location, traffic conditions, parking availability and the chance of snowfall in the area.
And, when all the results were calculated, Brighton finished in ninth position, with Edinburgh taking the top spot.
Glasgow, Oxford, Newcastle, Belfast, Bournemouth, Southampton and Manchester were the other places to finish above the Sussex city, with York rounding out the top ten.
A spokesman for Premier Inn, which conducted the study, said: “Christmas is the ideal time to support the UK’s highstreets and enjoy the shopping and entertainment that goes with it.
"However, it can be a daunting task trying to compete with large festive crowds.
"By creating this expert algorithm, we hope we can help consumers to avoid key shopping stresses and instead have an enjoyable experience."
