A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as three young men remain in hospital with serious injuries.

Police were called to Brighton seafront after reports of a brawl outside a nightclub at 5am on Sunday.

Three men were hurt when they were struck by a car in Marine Parade.

Now police say one of the men, aged 20, is in a “critical condition”.

Meanwhile an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man both remain in a serious condition in hospital.

A BMW X6 was found abandoned nearby in Middle Street.

The seafront road was closed to traffic all day yesterday and today while detectives and forensics officers scoured the scene.

It is set to stay shut until tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday), police say.

The incident is not terror-related.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Now, police have confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Both men are in custody for questioning, and Detective Chief Inspector Chris Friday has urged witnesses to come forward.

The detective said: “This is a fast moving investigation and we are again appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information about it to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have mobile phone footage, dashcam footage or anyone with private CCTV footage of the incident.

“Marine Parade is likely to remain closed between the pier roundabout and Camelford Street until Tuesday afternoon (3 December) while we are continuing searches and carrying out enquiries and I would like to thank the public for their patience."
