POLICE were called after reports of a "large scale fight" on the seafront at 5am on Sunday.

Three men were left critically injured when they were struck by a car in Marine Parade, Brighton.

Yesterday it was confirmed that 20-year-old Suel Delgado had died from his injuries.

Tributes were paid to the popular Loxwood Football Club player from Crawley.

He was pronounced dead at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on Monday and his life support machine was turned off yesterday.

His family said: "Suel was a beloved son, brother and friend.

"He always took care of his family and he will be sadly missed."

An 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man both remained in a serious condition.

The A259 was shut as police began a "painstaking search" of the area, with police chiefs explaining why the road needed to remain closed through Monday and most of Tuesday.

Yesterday the search was finished and the cordon was lifted.

On Sunday a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and was released under investigation on Monday.

Meanwhile a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday.

He remained in custody last night.

Police have continued to appeal for information, CCTV, and footage of the incident.
