A STAPLE in the city's festive calender is struggling and needs your help.

Each year thousands descend to Brighton seafront to take part in the Burning the Clocks celebrations.

Held on December 21, the winter solstice, people young and old carry lanterns through the street before watching a spectacular firework show on the pebbles.

But organisers say that arts funding has become "increasing difficult".

And because the parade receives no guaranteed funding, it is now calling on the general public to donate via its Crowdfunder.

An organiser said: "Help us ignite Brighton with an outpouring of passion, fun and fireworks to wish goodbye to the old year and usher in the new with a unique celebration of community and togetherness."

Those who donate £55 or more will receive a "personalised lantern".

People who splash out £80 will receive a dinner for two at the Jurys Inn.

And for £500, you will be given the chance to "lead the parade" with a group of ten.
