SIX fire engines are dealing with a fire in central Hove.
The incident in Salisbury Road, Hove, is ongoing and started at 12.22pm this afternoon.
Nearby residents report the road is lined with emergency services including ambulances and police and smoke can be seen coming out of a building.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 12.22pm to reports of a fire on the 1st floor of Chatsworth Hotel, Salisbury Road, Hove.
"One person rescued. Six fire engines are at the scene. Please avoid the area & close windows/doors if you live nearby."
At about 4pm, a Brighton and Hove City Council spokesman added: "A fire has been extinguished this afternoon at the Chatsworth Hotel, Salisbury Road, Hove.
"Seven residents including the owner are being found alternative nearby accommodation.
"One person is being treated in hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation."
