ALBION legend Bruno has attended the unveiling of a new mural dedicated to him.

The new artwork in Ditchling Road has undergone a facelift after it was initially met with a mixed response.

It depicts the former captain with the quote: “Once a Seagull, always a Seagull”.

Several people criticised the original piece, asking if Bruno had suffered a stroke.

But now, a new version has appeared with significant changes to the facial features.

The art was painted after a competition run by Brighton-based The Stag Company.

Speaking today, Bruno said: “I love the new mural. Thanks for bringing it back to the city I know it hasn’t been easy.”

The Stag Company ran a community campaign to find a new design for the mural on the 7.5m wall in October and Steet Artist Glimmer Twin was set the challenge to paint the mural.

Bruno helped pick the final design, which features him in the BHAFC stripes.

Bruno added: “I feel the new mural represents the new chapter of my career and I love that I am clapping the fans”

Earlier this year, a painting of the skipper on the wall of ice cream parlour Gusto Gelato in Brighton’s North Laine was removed, sparking outrage among residents and fans.

The 38-year-old called time on his career at the end of last season, retiring after seven years on the south coast.

The Spaniard is now part of Graham Potter’s backroom staff.
