A STUDENT was airlifted to hospital after a "sporting incident" at a college.
The young player collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during a fixture at Bexhill College yesterday afternoon, a spokeswoman for the institution said.
But she said his life was saved by the heroic actions of staff.
The spokeswoman said: "The quick actions of the Bexhill College staff, who carried out CPR and used the defibrillator, along with the quick arrival of the emergency services, saved the young person’s life.
"The emergency services arrived quickly and provided excellent care.
"They were also very complimentary about the quick thinking of the two college staff.
"The young man was taken to hospital in the air ambulance and the college wishes him a speedy recovery."
