THERE are long delays on the roads tonight after several incidents.

Two accidents by Coldean Lane have resulted in the road being shut.

There is heavy traffic on the A27 after a car crashed into a lamppost.

The collision took place at 4.15pm on the westbound slip road towards Patcham.

One lane has been closed and Highways England have been called to deal with the incident.

One driver stuck in the traffic said he could see and “queues at least 500 metres long”.

Sussex Police have asked drivers to avoid the area.

The police said there were no reports of injuries or other vehicles directly involved.

Another accident by the Lewes Road bus station is causing long tailbacks.

There has also been an accident on the A27 by Patcham and a diesel spill in Lewes Road, Newhaven.

Brighton Buses said it was experiencing huge delays across several routes.
