A LABOUR candidate has said his party "did not do enough" to win the General Election, after the exit polls predicted a Tory majority.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who is hoping to regain his Brighton Kemptown seat, said his party “did not make a strong enough case” to the country.

And has described the exit poll as “shocking” and "extremely disappointing”.

He said: "I’m not going to mince my words, the Conservatives are traitors to this country, they want to break up the country.

"We have to do everything we can to fight them.

“There is still some hope we might save some seats when the counts come in and here in Kemptown I hope people would have seen the hard work that we have done.

"But it’s not a good result and it is not a good result for the country that is now going to face years of decimation by the Conservatives who my feeling is are unfit to govern.

"But unfortunately we have not given a strong enough case to the people.

"We will have to recalibrate and like Phoenix rising from the ashes - we will rise again and will save this country from Conservative devastation."
