THERE is a hung jury in the Abdul Deghayes murder trial.
Jurors were unable to reach a verdict and Sussex Police have confirmed the case is going to a retrial.
Two men had been standing trial at Hove Crown Court in relation to the alleged murder of Mr Deghayes, who is the brother of two British teenagers who died fighting in Syria.
Mr Deghayes was fatally stabbed in Elm Grove, Brighton in February.
Daniel Macleod, 37, of Gypsy Road, Lambeth, south London, is charged with Mr Deghayes's murder.
Stephen Burns, 55, of Lennox Street, Brighton, is charged with assisting Macleod following the alleged murder.
Both men denied the charges.
The jury retired to consider its verdict on Friday last week.
Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb called the jury back into court on Thursday afternoon and sent them home for the day.
She told jurors: "Please have a good, peaceful evening, clear your minds, come back fresh in the morning."
