A SET of traffic lights were destroyed after being hit by a car.
The lights in Upper Bedford Street, Brighton, were struck this morning.
A passerby said the incident happened at about 11.30am on Saturday morning.
They described a car driving into the lights, near Buzz Bingo in Brighton, before driving off.
The passerby warned drivers in the area to be careful after the crash.
The traffic lights and a nearby bollard were left on their side, heavily damaged and not working.
An AA spokesman said: “There is a traffic signal failure on the B2066 Bedford Street both ways at Upper Bedford Street. Traffic is coping well.
“The traffic lights are no longer working due to a car hitting the traffic lights. Approach with care.”
