EMERGENCY services were called to a crash near a pub.

Two cars were badly damaged in the collision which happened in Roderick Avenue, Peacehaven, at about 1.30pm.

Police have cordoned off the area and both fire crews and ambulance services are also attending the incident.

An AA spokesman said: “The road is blocked and there is queueing traffic due to a crash in Roderick Avenue both ways from Balcombe Road to Southview Road.

“The incident happened near the Good Companion Pub.”

The crash is also causing disruption to bus services.

A Brighton and Hove Buses spokesman said: “Please note that due to an accident blocking the road all BH14 and BH14C services are currently diverted.

“From Brighton, buses will run direct to the Meridian Centre along the South Coast Road and Sutton Avenue.

“Buses from the Meridian Centre will use Arundel Road west and then do the loop as far as the Collingwood Close stop, then via Heathy Brow, resuming the normal route from Ambleside Ave.”

At 3.50pm a Brighton and Hove Buses spokesman said that services had returned to normal.

The road has been cleared.
