A MUCH-LOVED Indian restaurant has gone into administration.

The Chilli Pickle in Jubilee Square, Brighton, opened in 2008 serving street food-inspired dishes, from samosa to biryani.

The restaurant was the brainchild of husband and wife team Dawn and Alun Sperring. It seemed to be going from strength to strength after expanding into its current premises in 2010.

In October this year, it scooped up a prestigious award when Deliveroo recognised it as the best Indian restaurant in the country.

In 2017, The Argus reported that the Chilli Pickle was preparing to expand outside Brighton.

The restaurant launched a £700,000 fundraising campaign to help expand the business and secured the help of Kevin Bacon, the co-founder of Frankie and Benny’s

and former managing director of Jamie Oliver International.

He invested in the business and joined as its chairman.

But a second branch of the restaurant set up in Guildford in July 2018 closed less than a year after opening.

Administrators were appointed last month.

The restaurant, which is still trading, declined to comment when contacted by The Argus yesterday.
