A HOTEL chain has revealed the weird and wacky items left behind by holidaymakers.

A life-size cut out of Brad Pitt and a large chocolate teapot are among the bizarre possessions misplaced by guests at the two Travelodge hotels in Brighton.

One is in West Street and the other is in Preston Road.

Other obscure objects included a litre of Brighton seawater, a Christmas grotto, an Elvis outfit, tarot cards, a Mont Blanc pen and a castle cake.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: “With nearly 19 million customers annually staying at our 571 UK hotels, including two in Brighton, we do get a range of interesting items left behind.

“Interestingly, our hotel teams have reported a rise in wedding and proposal props being left behind in our hotels in 2019.

“This included a 5ft floral unicorn, a huge full moon, a flower wall, palm trees, a Tiffany engagement ring and even a best man in Torquay.”

Brighton did not buck the trend in this regard with one prospective bride or groom having left a pricey diamond engagement ring in their room.

Another wedding planner suffered a similar nightmare scenario when they left a box of wedding invites behind.

But the city cannot take credit for the weirdest item found in one of the hotel chain’s venues in the last year.

That accolade falls to the Travelodge in Stratford Upon Avon where staff were shocked to discover a pair of alpacas named Ant and Dec.

A huge full moon left in the Liverpool John Lennon Airport hotel and a Persian Chinchilla cat called Angel found in Stirling, Scotland, also narrowly missed out on the top spot.

Ms Ahmed suggested a possible reason why so many interesting items were forgotten by guests.

She said: “When it comes to why so many of our customers forget their treasured items, it’s basically due to us all being time poor, juggling multiple tasks and being in a hurry to get from A to B.

“In the rush, valuable possessions are easily forgotten.”
