LAST week I drove over from Worthing and went to the cinema at the Marina in Brighton.

I was a little surprised to find the cost for a regular seat was £11 each. So with two of us it proved an expensive evening.

I rarely leave Worthing when I want to visit the cinema but it was for a specific film that was not showing locally.

In Worthing we have two excellent cinemas with a total of 5 screens.

The Dome cinema on Worthing seafront charges a maximum of £6.70 with discounts for children, senior citizens and a daytime discount for everyone. On discount Mondays all seats are £3.50 and the main cinema is an old style auditorium which can accommodate hundreds. They have one large and two small screens.

At the Connaught cinema (which is a theatre and a second cinema screen) maximum cost is £7 with discounts for senior citizens and children.

The Connaught offers a discount on Wednesdays where all seats are £3.50.

Better still, there is a Silver Screen offering at 11am on Monday mornings where tickets are £4 and you are given a complimentary cup of tea and a biscuit. Although it is called the Silver Screen, it is open to everyone of any age.

I should also point out that street parking in Worthing is free after 6pm and on Sunday's.

The large car park behind Worthing Town Hall is free after 4pm and on Sunday's but you have to pay on Saturdays.

Our car parks are very cheap compared to many towns. If you prefer we have great rail links and bus links especially useful if you have a bus pass.

Next time you are planning a trip to the cinema, consider a trip toWorthing please.
