STUDENTS have been injured in a coach crash.

It is understood there were 16 people on board the Plumpton College coach. 

The college said none had been seriously injured, but some students are being treated for minor injuries.

The B2116 has been closed both ways at Plumpton Lane.

Images from the scene show the coach on its side with a smashed front window.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue said crews were still on the scene, and confirmed no one is trapped in the coach.

In a statement on Twitter, the fire service said: "At 16.37, firefighters from Brighton, Lewes and Burgess Hill were called to attend a road traffic collision involving a coach on B2116 Ditchling Road, Plumpton."

Plumpton College said in a statement: "Our Eastbourne coach has been involved in a road incident this evening. Emergency services are at the scene.

"There have been no serious injuries, however some students are being treated for minor injuries."
