SEVEN people were injured after a coach carrying college students overturned in a crash.
It is understood there were 16 people on board the Plumpton College coach which was involved in a collision on the B2116 yesterday.
The ambulance service said: "We were called at about 4.30pm to Ditchling Road outside Plumpton College after reports of a collision involving a coach having left the road.
"Ambulance crews attended including our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
"We joined Sussex Police and fire services at the scene.
"There were seven patients in total.
"Six were taken from the scene to the Royal Sussex County in Brighton.
"One person made their own way to the hospital.
"Thankfully none of the patients had serious injuries."
The road was closed both ways at Plumpton Lane following the crash.
Images from the scene showed a coach on its side with a smashed windscreen.
Plumpton College said in a statement: "Our Eastbourne coach has been involved in a road incident this evening. Emergency services are at the scene.
"There have been no serious injuries, however some students are being treated for minor injuries."
A spokesman for the college later provided an update on the incident.
He said: "On the afternoon of January 7 the Eastbourne coach departing Plumpton College with 33 students on board was involved in a traffic incident shortly after departing college.
"Emergency services arrived at the scene promptly, and six students were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
"A member of Plumpton College staff accompanied these students to the hospital and their parents have been kept fully informed.
"All remaining students were returned safely to college and collected by parents or taken home by college transport.
"We are extremely proud of how our students and staff conducted themselves this evening."
He added that all bus routes to and from the school will be "operating as usual" today.
