A COUNCIL leader is supporting Angela Rayner for deputy leader of the Labour Party.
Brighton and Hove City Council leader Nancy Platts said the MP for Ashton-under-Lyne has her support after fighting for Moulsecoomb Primary School.
The school in The Highway, Brighton, was branded “inadequate” by Ofsted inspectors in May and proposals to turn the school into an academy have been fiercely opposed.
Ms Platts, pictured right, with the prospective leader, said: “She was there supporting us in Brighton and Hove when we needed her.
“As Shadow Secretary of State, she fought for communities to have a voice and joined our calls for the government to give local people a genuine say over the future of the school and to end the forced conversions of schools to academies.”
