A POLICE force has made an unlikely pitch to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Surrey Police are encouraging the royal couple to apply for one of its job vacancies.

The force has raised several points as to why a position within the police could be perfect for Harry and Meghan.

A spokesman said: “We hear you are looking for a new role where your strong beliefs in public service and serving the Queen could be an asset. We’re close to Windsor, and Sussex, and we are recruiting.”

The pair stepped down as “senior royals” this week, saying they plan to “carve out a progressive new role within this institution”. They said they intend to “work to become financially independent”.

Their statement said: “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”
