Ed Byrne: If I’m Honest

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Friday, March 6 2020

Ed Byrne broke through in the mid-1990s when the New Lad became a genuine cultural phenomenon.

Byrne presents his brand-new masterclass in observational comedy hot on the heels of his 17/18 Touring hit, Spoiler Alert.

His latest show goes deeper into issues such as his sense of paternal responsibility, what masculinity means in 2019 – “We have higher suicide rates and tend not to do well in divorces, but representation in action movies is not something we have an issue with.” – and whether he has any qualities whatsoever that are worth passing on to his sons.

“I do genuinely annoy myself,” Byrne recently told The Argus.

“But the thing of your children being a reflection of you gives you an opportunity to build something out of the best of yourself only for you to then see flashes of the worst of yourself in them.”

Tickets start from £27 and the show kicks off at 7pm.

Ross Noble: Humournoid

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Thursday, April 23 2020

The master of improvisational stand-up, Ross Noble is back.

Following the success of his El Hablador tour last year Ross returns with his new show, Humournoid. The comedian recently told us he is keen to get away from the traditional images associated with his profession.

He said: “I’ve always been a fan of breaking away from the thing of a comedian just standing in front of a blank stage with a couple of lights, a stool, and a table with some water on it.”

Tickets start from £27.50 and the show starts at 8pm.

Trixie Mattel

The Argus:

Friday, May 22 2020

Brighton Centre

Drag queen, musician, stand up comedian, entertainer, entrepreneur. After a successful UK tour in 2018, All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel returns in May 2020 for a brand new full length theatre tour “Grown Up”.

Trixie Mattel is not only a major pop culture figure but a stand up comedian and musician with talents that defy classification. Trixie’s coming to the UK on tour with an exciting electro-folk reinvention. Expect to feel that you’ve landed in a PeeWee Herman video, with some surf rock and a love for 60s country music. She’s listening to a lot of Fountains Of Wayne and Apples In Stereo, collecting mod Barbie dolls and watching Brady Brunch reruns.

Trixie Mattel first rocketed to national fame when she competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race’s seventh season.

Tickets start from £49 and the show starts at 8.30pm.

Rhod Gilbert: The Book of John

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Sunday, February 16

The multi award-winning Welsh comedian is back with a brand-new live show.

In a seven-year break from stand-up, a lot has happened to Rhod.

Almost all of it bad.

Just when he thought he’d hit rock bottom, he met a bloke… called John.

This show sees Rhod as funny as ever, but like never before. Raw, personal and brutally honest; no more lies, no more nonsense.

As seen on Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, Would I Lie to You?, Taskmaster, QI, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, Live at The Apollo, Have I Got News for You.

Tickets start from £29 and the show starts at 8pm.

Mo Gilligan: There’s Mo to Life

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Thursday, November 5 2020

Fresh from his smash hit global Netflix release, Bafta nomination and No. 1 trending entertainment show, Mo Gilligan is back with a brand-new world tour of There’s Mo To Life.

The British comedian has been doing stand-up for years, but his popularity has grown since 2017. His last stand-up tour, Coupla Cans, sold 50,000 tickets.

His smash hit Netflix special Mo Gilligan: Momentum was released globally in 190 countries, and his Channel 4 series The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan has been a breakout hit. Influenced by Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock, he was named The Funniest Man in Britain by The Times.

Tickets start from £25 and the show starts at 7pm.

Russell Howard: Respite

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 2020

Riding high on the success of his Sky One show The Russell Howard Hour, and his global smash Netflix special Recalibrate, Russell is back on stage where he belongs, making sense of a world that’s spinning out of control.

The new comedy hour is his first stand-up tour since 2017’s Round The World which saw him break the record for the biggest English speaking stand-up show in China and play a record-breaking ten-night run at the Royal Albert Hall, overtaking eight in a row jointly held by Frank Sinatra and Barry Manilow.

The Respite tour marks Howard’s third and largest world tour to date.

He has performed to audiences in USA, Canada, the Middle East and Europe.

The newly added Edinburgh date means those attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2020 can catch Howard among many other acts.

Tickets start from £39 and the show starts at 8pm.

Jimmy Carr: Terribly Funny

The Argus:

Brighton Dome

Sunday, February 23 2020

Jimmy’s brand new show contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things.

Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love.

But they’re just jokes... they are not the terrible things.

Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo.

Now you’ve been warned, buy a ticket.

Tickets start at £31.50 and the show starts at 8pm.
