POLICE have spoken to cabbies parking at the front of a railway station.

Late last year the Brighton Station taxi rank was moved to the rear of the building, causing uproar among many drivers.

The new rank is in Stroudley Road – and was described by cabbie Gavin Castle as “utter madness”.

In protest, one taxi driver said he was “making his own rank” in front of the station saying “it’s worth it, we’re being stitched up and so are the public”.

But police officer said cabbies parking at the front of the station have now been spoken to.

Speaking on Thursday, special constable Ryan Seibel said: “Last night we spoke with a number of taxis blocking buses from using the stops at Brighton Station while touting for fares. The changes to the ranks mean drivers now have to use the rear of the station.”
