ALMOST £9 million was spent preventing potholes in West Sussex last year.
The county council highways team repaired 18,514 potholes in 2019 – an average of about 350 every week.
The council spent £8.9 million treating 806,000 sqm of carriageway.
A total of £3.85million was spent repairing potholes.
The council promises to fix “significantly sized” holes within 28 days. Roger Elkins, cabinet member for highways and infrastructure, said: “We take the pothole issue very seriously – we know they are the bane of road users’ lives.”
