A “HIGHLY explosive” bomb was found on a beach.
The explosive on Medmerry Beach in Selsey was reported to coastguard by passersby on Tuesday.
Crews attended and found several other bombs in the area, which was cordoned off.
Photos were taken of the items and these were sent to the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
After confirming the items were explosives, the team attended and carried out a controlled explosion shortly after 11am.
Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team gave advice to anyone who found an explosive on the beach.
A spokesman said: “Ordnance comes in all shapes and sizes and the ordnance found on this beach previously has been found to be highly explosive, like this piece.
“So, please do not touch it and call the coastguard.”
