STORM Brendan has caused chaos during the night.

The bad weather has affected air, rail and road travel due to high winds and heavy rain.

One person was trapped in a vehicle in floodwater in Lickfold in West Sussex, and had to be rescued by fire crews from Chichester.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue issues a warning for others not to take "unnecessary risks" during Storm Brendan.

Falling trees have blocked roads and rail lines, and tree surgeons have been working overnight to clear branches from the tracks.

Meanwhile there are power cuts across Sussex this morning, and UK Power Networks are working to restore supplies.

The South Terminal access road to Gatwick Airport was closed and passengers flying in to the airport were diverted, as British Airways said is was not safe for landings because of the wind gusts.

The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for rain until 9am this morning, with delays expected on the roads due to spray and flooding in some areas.
